Auction #212 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 988 in auction 212
Item Description
Each of these is a Mint fabric hankie overall 7.75x8" but in the folded size of 4x4". The 77th Infantry Division landed in Hawaii March 31, 1944 and continued training in amphibious landings and jungle warfare. Elements of the group began to leave Hawaii July 1, 1944 for an amphibious assault on Guam. One of these hankies is thus inscribed "Remembrance Of Guam." The remaining four also document their military actions each with the words "Remembrance Of" and followed by the names "Leyte, Okinawa, Kerama-Retto, Ie-Shima." Hankies are folded as issued slightly less than perfectly square but totally Mint as issued and the only examples we have seen.
