Item Description
Each of these is a 3" button and these are 9 of 10 known designs found in the Marshall Levin Collection. In the 1960s Levin established close relationships with many New York City button companies and for 4 decades was able to acquire examples of the buttons these companies were producing. He carefully notated what he considered his master example and from one set of those we can provide the following information about these of which the collection held only two or three examples of each. Four of these buttons picture Mickey in a Santa outfit while six picture Uncle Scrooge and a Mickey-like character playing the roles of Ebenezer Scrooge and Tiny Tim from the Dickens story A Christmas Carol. The Mickey buttons read "Magic Kingdom Of Christmas" while the Scrooge buttons read "A Dickens Of A Disney Christmas." The first button does not have an imprint of a Mall. We know from Levin's notes that only 50 were produced of this button. Next comes "Golf Gate Mall" (from Sarasota, Florida) with 250 produced. Next comes "Hamilton Mall" (from Mays Landing, New Jersey) with 250 produced. Next comes "Montgomery Mall" (from Alabama) with 250 produced. Next comes "Orange Blossom Mall" (from Fort Pierce Florida) with 250 produced. Next comes "Padres Staples Mall", quantity unknown, probably 250. Next comes "Scottsdale Mall", quantity unknown, probably 250. Next comes "Southpark Mall" (from Moline Illinois) 250 produced. Next comes "West Town Mall" (from Knoxville Tennessee) 250 produced. The only other known button is from "Westmoreland Mall" in Greensburg, Pa., also 250 produced but not included in this group. All are Mint as issued. Nine rare buttons from the Marshall Levin Collection. Comes with Hake's COA.
