Item Description
Smallest button is the first in our photo at .75" and probably the very earliest Popeye button issued. Has back paper from St. Louis Button Co. Undated but with curl text "Exclusively Licensed By King Features Syndicate." Next are a pair of 1-3/8" enamel on silvered brass 1930s pins, one for Olive and one for Popeye. Olive has speck of enamel and tiny darkness at her neck but otherwise both are clean. Next are a pair of .75" lithos from a King Features early 1930s set which also included Flash Gordon, Dale Arden, Little Annie Rooney, Wimpy and Jeep. Pinpoint dot off at the bottom of Olive but otherwise both are NM. Next is scarce button from San Francisco Examiner with text "Member Popeye Club" and stamped-in serial number. Tiny wear traces but Exc. and rare. Next is "Wimpy" from beautifully colored 1930s set issued by "Evening Ledger Comics" of Philadelphia. Complete with back paper. Surface is just a little dented to the touch but totally clean and glossy. Next is "Popeye" from 1950s set followed by "Popeye For President" issued by Lisa Frank Inc. and licensed by KFS with 1980 copyright. Next is for a book titled "Popeye: The First 50 Years" with 1979 KFS copyright. Last is scarce button from the 1950s. This is a 3" litho reading "I'm Keepin' Fit With Popeye." Couple tiny paint wear marks but still extremely Fine. A nice group.
