Item Description
First six buttons are 7/8" lithos all designed like our previous Elvis group. These are six of twelve known with song titles: Ain't That A Shame, Green Door, My Prayer, Rock Around The Clock, Singing The Blues, You'll Never Know. Scattered wear on the last five of the six but all display well and with much luster. Next is large 3.5" button with movie title "Don't Knock The Rock." This 1956 movie portrayed a disc jockey trying to prove to teenagers' parents that rock 'n' roll was harmless and would not turn the kids into juvenile delinquents. Stars included Alan Dale and Alan Freed. Scarce and Exc. displaying Mint. Second is large 3.5" musical fad button picturing bizarre character and reading "I Am A Purple People Eater." This was a 1958 novelty song written and performed by Sheb Wooley which reached No. 1 on the billboard pop charts in 1958. It tells how a strange creature described as a "one-eyed, one-horned, flying, purple people eater" descends to Earth because it wants to be in a rock 'n' roll band. A little fade of the purple color but totally clean. These large buttons are both very scarce.
