Item Description
28x41". 1936-1937. Poster features large photo image of clown at left, just above Ringling's "The Greatest Show On Earth" globe logo. Clown is Pat Valdo, who joined Ringling Bros. as a white-face clown in 1922 and held many executive positions w/Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey including Performance Director and General Director. Valdo created some of the best known clown acts of all time - the midget fire brigade that rushes in and swarms over the burning building, the dog-elephant act, etc. Small blue penciled date information at bottom right margin. Center left margin has .75x1" piece missing w/additional .25" tear. This could be easily matted out for a VF display as poster remains incredibly bright and clean.
