Item Description
10.5x17x4.5" deep window box contains 15" tall doll by Hasbro, ©1965. Marketed as "The Doll With... The Tear," this wide-eyed sad-looking doll was obviously influenced by the then popular artwork of Margaret Keane, though Keane and her husband were not part of the design team for this doll. Doll's box has text reading "I Need Someone To Love Me - I Want To Learn To Play - Please Take Me Home With You And Brush My Tear Away." This references the separate clear plastic tear on the doll's cheek, which is often missing. This example is complete w/original tear, elastic headband, burlap dress, panties and safety pin. Doll has some aging but is o/w Exc. Box shows obvious wear w/heavy creases and 4.5" tear at top lid hinge, but window (w/printed snow design) remains intact. VG. Doll remains attached to insert w/specialty art of snowy homes in bkg. One of Hasbro's most unusual creations.
