Item Description
Size 40 cotton twill uniform jacket by Smith-Gray of New York. Nicely tailored w/Fair color accents on collar/shoulders/cuffs. Silvered metal breast sample badge reads "00000 - New York World's Fair - 1939 -" and jacket has hole above and below as produced, likely for full sized police badge. Sewn tag inside collar has text that reads "Made Expressly For" and has handwritten inked name - "J.B. Ellis" as well as noted "Pct. 1" precinct. Interior pocket has manufacturer's label as well as sewn-in label on jacket liner. Jacket has two different size brass buttons, each featuring same raised Trylon and Perisphere buildings design. Jacket has series of gold metal hooks around waist area, likely to help secure policeman's belt, which were worn over the coat in the 1930s and 1940s w/this style jacket. No belt is present. Missing one main button, which has been replaced w/generic plastic button. Jacket is clean and lightly aged and is o/w VF. Great for display.
