Item Description
International Workers Order was a 1930s neighborhood-based, left-wing group particularly popular with the Jewish working class. Membership actually exceeded that of the Communist Party USA. (See following two lots). This button, with World's Fair trylon and perisphere symbols over Manhattan skyline, commemorates the group's "10th Anniversary June, 1940" and was a souvenir of their "5th National Convention." Large 2.25". Union bug on curl. Pinpoint raised center bump catches light but o/w essentially Mint. Only example we know of. Rare. See early brewing butotn #469 and WWII #728, #739.
