Item Description
First is 6x10.5" large ticket with eagle and flag graphic. This is from his unsuccessful 1878 campaign for Governor as noted by the pencil inscription on back reading "Wards 1, 2, 5 Salem Tuesday Nov. 5, 1878." He was later elected Governor of Massachusetts in 1883 as a Democrat. Corner tip off upper and lower right sides. Otherwise bright, clean and an impressive size. Comes with 3x5" trade card with illustration of him riding a "Presidential Ram." Text above reads "Every Man Rides His Own Hobby" with follow-up text at bottom "Our Hobby, Clothing, Myers & Heim/Reading, Pa." Card is from 1884 when he was Greenback Party nominee. Five other cards comprised this set and included: Robert Ingersoll, P.T. Barnum, Jay Gould, Henry Bergh (founder of A.S.P.C.A.) and Vanderbilt. Light wear and age. VG.
