Item Description
2-5/8x7.75x.25" thick heavy, solid brass plate that we believe was used to emboss this full body flying image of "Captain Marvel" carrying a large pencil onto "Captain Marvel" pencil boxes similar to the 1940s Superman w/embossed lid. However, unlike Superman pencil boxes, we have never seen one for Captain Marvel and do not think one was ever put into production. Design is in negative to give positive embossing to finished product and also includes small 1948 Fawcett Publications, Inc. copyright. Bottom left corner has denting and plate has some scattered tarnishing that has resulted in a nice patina. Fine overall. Truly a one-of-a-kind item for the Captain Marvel collector.
