Item Description
13.25x17.25x1.5" deep cardboard box has lid w/wonderfully illustrated lid label depicting Arctic explorer Rear Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd, Jr. (Byrd claimed his expeditions were the first to reach the North Pole and the South Pole by air. However, majority of polar experts are now of the opinion that Roald Amundsen has the first verifiable claim to each pole.) Parker Brothers Inc., c. 1930. Lid label also features Byrd talking into radio microphone w/text reading "Hello America." A seaplane, Byrd's ship, sled dogs, penguins and New York City are also depicted on label. Box lid has one corner split w/1.5" side panel tear and neat glue repair to 4.75" tear at bottom left corner. Box bottom also has glue repair to 1.5" side panel tear. VG overall, but displays Fine. Comes w/original illustrated instructions w/image of Byrd. Game contents include four die-cut cardboard illustrated radio microphone spinners w/wooden handles and connected string "wires" w/wooden peg for connecting to holed playing board insert that has nice polar map image. This shows scattered lt. wear but is Exc. overall. Game appears complete and playing pieces are Exc. Wonderful game based on Admiral Byrd's historic trip.
