Lot of three items from the 1940 comic book club membership kit. First is large and rare 1.75" dia. club button depicting character from "Pep Comics." This is the first issue button, c. 1940. Much scarcer than the 1.25" size version. No backpaper as issued. Tiny faint tan dot at 7 o'clock and scattered tiny marks that are only visible in reflected light. Exc. Super clean and glossy. Comes w/2x3.5" stiff membership card for club sponsored by "Pep Comics." Card has typed-in member's name and actual ink-signed name of the comic book character as issued. Card has lt. crease which is only visible on back, but displays Exc. Only the fifth signed card we've seen. Button and card come w/rare 3x4.5" mailer envelope w/M.L.J. Magazine return address and typed recipient address (w/name matching that on card). Envelope has some scattered handling wear. Fine overall. First complete set we've offered in our 47 years.
