Item Description
This product was invented in Milan in 1845 as a stomach medicine. This most unusual advertising piece is from the early 1900s and consists of a pair of 1.25" celluloids which pull apart to reveal a pair of circular brass bands open on the interior for the storage of pills. One band has extremely narrow 1" sliver off its top edge plus a tiny break but it does not interfere with opening and closing of the piece. Underside of one of the celluloids has hairline splitting about .75" long but with the celluloid laying perfectly flat. Exterior sides of the piece have a few very tiny brown age marks. Both surfaces in reflected light are covered in near microscopic shallow indents that don't pierce the celluloid and which barely show with normal viewing. Beautiful color graphics with eagle holding the product bottle in his talons as it soars above the world globe against a nicely colored sky. Only example seen.
