Item Description
Smallest are 7/8" and largest are 1.25". Group includes 10 pin-backs, 2 porcelain pins by O'Hara, 7 lapel studs and 1 stickpin. Of particular note are row 1, #1 "League Tires", the first we've seen and with 1896 back paper. Light rust on the reverse collet but no stain. Second in that row has the blue center slightly faded but button is totally clean and has 1898 paper. Fourth in that row names "League Of American Wheelmen." Tiniest trace of background age. Last in that row was inspired by the 1896 revival of the modern Olympic games and reads "Olympic Cycling Club." In row three the first O'Hara has small flake off near upper edge and once suspended a small aluminum replica of the device which is now missing. Still displays well. Second O'Hara piece is for the "Penna Division/L.A.W." There is a single hairline crack crossing the center but the piece is still most impressive. In bottom row the second item has light fading and a few pinpoint rim marks as does the fourth showing the elephant promoting "Stahl's Puncture Proof Tires." Overall an extremely clean group with numerous rarities.
