Item Description
Button sizes are 1.75" up to mostly 3.5" but with one at 6". Patches are 3-4" tall. Group begins with America's first astronaut to orbit earth, John Glenn. Other early flights include Gordon Cooper and America's first two-man crew of "Young-Grissom" from 1965. Next twelve buttons are from the 1969 moon landing. There is one button with an exact duplicate and also with full color photo is one button with the same identical button holding a "Voyage To The Moon" ribbon. One of the items is a 3-dimensional hologram with simulated scene of the flag being planted on the lunar surface. One 4" button welcomes astronaut Neil Armstrong to his home town in Ohio for a July, 1969 celebration. Five buttons relate to the Space Shuttle with two of these picturing the first woman in space Sally Ride. Another, issued before the Challenger tragedy pictures "Sharon Christa McAuliffe" who was chosen as the astronaut to represent "Teacher In Space" project. Last button shows the crew of Challenger 7 who died Jan. 28, 1986. Patches include one for the Space Shuttle, one for Mercury 8, and four for Apollo missions X, XII and 14. All items are NM to Mint. 27 pieces in all.
