Item Description
These six ribbon badges range between 7.5" and 10.5" tall. We will take them in the order of our photo. First with cello hanger and suspended cello is for "37th National Encampment/G.A.R./San Francisco, 1903." Upper ribbon designates "Los Angeles" group. Some of the gold lettering has taken on a green color with light dust on the yellow ribbon but still overall in Fine condition and with bar pin. Second with no hanger or pin is for the same event as the previous ribbon. This includes a flag suspending brass rope rim which encases an embossed brass relief depiction of the state animal, a bear, walking against a dark green background. Underside of this piece has large label by Chicago maker C.S. Cole. A little loss of gold lettering and wear to the fringe but most fringe remains. Third item has cello insert on the hanger "Camp Gen. Sickles." This was issued for 1905 Huntington Beach "18th Annual Encampment Southern California Veteran Association." Reverse has large cardboard label by maker Hoegee. Slight loss of gold lettering but overall VF. Next is elaborate and rare badge with gold lettering on the fabric reading "Delegate/April 10-11-12, 1907." There are three large and heavy metal segments in copper luster. Top with eagle reads "40th Annual Encampment/G.A.R." Links suspend a star showing the group logo with the dates "1861.....1865." More links suspend slightly convex piece with irregular edges representing the wreath surrounding highly embossed female figure wearing a crown with text below "At Santa Barbara Cal." Back has large cardboard label of maker St. Louis Button Co. Exc. Last are a pair from the "Bartlett/Logan" or "Frank Barlett" Los Angeles "Post No. 6." First suspends 1.25" beautiful celluloid. Tiny loss of fabric on the separate flag ribbon. Larger ribbon has slight loss of gold color on the "In Memoriam" center panel of fabric. First has celluloid hanger while second has embossed tin "G.A.R." large hanger. Both of these are at least Fine.
