Item Description
1.25” button c. 1905 with Baltimore Badge back paper. Tiny age on the back paper and very slight trace of staining around the collet. Front has age tone traces around "Press" but barely noticeable. Full gloss and color. Button was issued to promote newspaper comic strip and while art is unsigned, we believe it is by W.W. Denslow, noted for his Oz illustrations, and a hardcover Billy Bounce book exists crediting Denslow as both author and illustrator. Among the earliest Sunday comics promotional buttons. One of five seen. Rare and VF.
