Item Description
Group of 13 of 14 issued and beautifully designed 1.25" buttons to promote Philadelphia newspaper comic strips. The one missing button pictures the character Relentless Rudolph and has large text naming issuer "Evening Ledger Comics." These other 13 buttons have one of the two back paper versions. Most have the back paper "World's Most Famous Comics/Evening Ledger Every Day." Two buttons have no back paper and these are Felix and Relentless Rudolph. Those with second variety paper reading "Listen To Brother Bill/Everyday 6 P.M. WIP" (call letters for a Philadelphia radio station) are Mickey Mouse and Snuffy Smith. The 13 characters are: Babe Bunting, Bobby Thatcher, Connie, Dan Dunn, Felix, Harold Teen, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Popeye, Relentless Rudolph, Smitty, Snuffy Smith and Wimpy. The Mickey and Minnie buttons in this set have sales records frequently exceeding $500.00 each and many other characters are in the $200.00 range. This is a beautiful group, all NM to Mint and with high gloss. We've had only three complete sets of 14 with those ranging between $1,500-$2,000.00. Set opens around 50% of value.
