Item Description
Lot of six pulp magazines, published by Street & Smith. Lot includes two issues of "Crime Busters," which would later become "Mystery Magazine," of which this lot includes four issues. "Crime Busters" include - Vol. 2, No. 6 and Vol. 3, No. 2; published Oct., 1938 and Dec., 1938. First issue has stories by Carroll John Daly and Robert C. Blackmon and features first appearance of Doc Trouble. Second issue features great cover w/bloody sword and severed hand as well as "Norgil The Magician" story written by Shadow writer Walter B. Gibson under Maxwell Grant pseudonym. Typical cover overlap wear w/small margin tears/chips, wear more prevalent on first issue. VG/Fine overall w/lightly aged, but supple pages. "Mystery Magazine" issues include - Vol. 5, Nos. 2-3, 6; Vol. 6, No. 1; published Dec., 1939 to May, 1940. Three of four issues include Gibson "Norgil The Magician" stories. Each has ink stamp dates on either cover or first interior page. Sharp cover edges/corners w/little to none of the typical cover wear seen on pulp magazines of this age, a few w/lt. corner creasing. Pages remain supple. Fine-VF overall.
