3.5x4.25" brown leather zippered wallet. Hidecraft, 1940s. Front has tooled leather design featuring full figure image of Superman flying set against Art Deco geometric design that wraps around onto back. Superman is depicted in accurate red/blue color combination as he appears in the comics. Interior has snap closure "Coins" compartment and clear (though yellowed w/age) windows to display ID. We know of two other Superman wallet designs by this company, including action pose of Superman surrounded by chain links and flying to the left. This variety depicts Superman in flight, about to land w/his cape trailing behind him. Outside has moderate scattered edge wear w/flaking of surface and aging. Back of wallet has original owner's name in silver paint and black ink. Spine has some cracking/flaking to surface. VG overall, but image on front retains bright color. Scarce.
