Item Description
Original envelope w/illustrated "Ranger Joe, Inc. return address held single 6" long layered thick cardboard rubberband gun that was laminated to simulate wood and featured imprinted "Ranger Joe" name on barrel and logo printed on one side of grips. This lot includes two guns. c. late 1940s. Ranger Joe Honnies cereal began in 1939, a creation of Jim Rex for the Philadelphia, PA. area. Rice Honnies joined the original Wheat Honnies product in 1951 and both are considered among the forerunners of coated cereals. Nabisco bought the company in 1954, replacing Ranger Joe w/Buffalo Bee and changing "Honnies" to "Honeys" and initiating national distribution. Guns have some lt. aging w/small hole inside one barrel, likely from insertion of foreign "bullet." Still displays Exc. Other gun has scattered surface paper flaking to grip and is VF. Scarce. Envelope shows obvious wear and is incomplete and just comes along.
