40x79" three-sheet poster for original release of the 1944 Republic 15-Chapter film serial which starred Dick Purcell in the titular role of Captain America and Lionel Atwill as Dr. Cyrus Maldor/The Scarab. Poster was printed by the Morgan Litho Corp. of Cleveland, OH. Nice graphics include large full body image of Captain America rescuing female lead Lorna Gray from The Scarab's laboratory as large image of Atwill looms at top (an early TV set can be seen w/small repeated image of Captain America and Gray). Poster was issued in two pieces, w/bottom third being slightly off-center as printed. Poster has horizontal and vertical folds as issued w/some scattered color touch-ups along fold lines/fold crease intersections. These touch-ups blend for the most part, and faces and other main images are mostly unaffected. Scattered faint streaks of moisture staining blend for the most part, mainly visible only on lighter areas at top. Margin edges show wear w/some restoration. Fine overall, but main image area retains bright, bold color and would mat and frame for a nice display as linen-mounted. Scarce.
