Large 2-1/8" button, one of three different known designs, all c. 1900 intended for those attending a Shriner's fraternal convention in Troy, N.Y. The resting camel wears a Shriner's fez and also the shirt company's collar with a small bow tie. A lodge initiate stands in his black socks, pantless, wearing one of the company's shirts as he grasps a rope. He wears a blindfold and his hair is standing on end as he awaits the Shrine initiation ritual. The button is in superb color and includes bright gold accents on the camel's blanket and reins. Reverse back paper has large company trademark design with additional text for their "Shirt Collars and Cuffs - Noble Goods For 'Noble's' Wear." Paper also specifies W&H as the maker. The button is totally stain free and has almost no surface scratching. Overall an outstanding example with high gloss. Among the very best of the early product pin-backs.
