Item Description
Muted silver luster metal frame and handle covered in design elements and 4-1/8” tall. Metal holds mirror with just a little silvering off the outer edge. The celluloid side may not show the full name of the issuer at the top but that is because the mirror just slipped a fraction of an inch to one side and that has now been corrected so that the full text is visible. The only stain are on three words of the top inscription which reads “The John C. Roth Packing Co.,/Cincinnati.” Text below the scene is “O, HO! you did not ask for ‘Dove Brand’ ham, bacon and lard EH!” Mirror features wonderful color but also rather violent scene with dressed adult pig holding aloft a branch in one hand and an unclothed young pig by the ear in the other as he is ready to admonish a spanking. A woodpile appears at the left. About the third example we’ve seen in five decades. Rare.
