Item Description
Large 2.25” button with covered metal back and stamp of St. Louis Button Co. used only 1899-1907. Metal back has surface pitting over most of it and the vertical fixed pin is missing about .25” from the tip. Front cello has noticeable age marks mostly on the left side and all on the background area rather than the illustration. Full text reads “Oklahoma City Packing Co./’We Feed The Family’ With ‘Blue Jay’ Brands.” Button surface has some small bumps noticeable to the touch, a .75” deeper than usual scratch but along the shading beneath the mother pig so barely showing plus there are a couple of tiny craze lines or deeper scratches around the first baby pig and some tiny craze lines scattered over the cream background on the right side. While the stain does show a bit the other defects are very minimal. Button retains full gloss and is the first example we’ve seen in five decades.
