Item Description
Each of these is 1.25” and each has a W&H back paper first used in 1898. Contrast on both buttons is not that strong but images and text are easily seen on both when viewed closely. First is real photo of “Tommy Ryan” in a boxing stance. Paul Muchinsky catalogs three in the series with the others being Tom Sharkey and Spike Sullivan. Johnny Griffin is also known. While the contrast is light the button itself has no damage and is clean and glossy. Second is a very unusual pin back showing a pair of babies in a crib. The baby on the left is labeled “Fitzsimmons” above its head while the other is labeled “Corbett” and this baby is crying so perhaps the button was made after Corbett lost the fight. Contrast on this photographic button is a good bit stronger than on the Ryan. Condition is also NM with full gloss. An extraordinary boxing button and only 2 known to us. Rare. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
