9x13" book w/eight story pages and a flip-out page w/numbered wild animal identification guide. When opened, large and impressive jungle scene pops up, w/various wild animals including elephant, rhino, lion, giraffe, tiger, zebra, etc. Pop-up also features two separate die-cut figures of Moko and Koko, each w/large palm tree. These are loose as produced. Published by Bancroft & Co. Ltd. in London, ©1962 ARTIA Prague. Printed in Czechoslovakia. Book features art by Vojtech Kubasta, a Czech architect and artist who designed his first fairy tale pop-up book, "Little Red Riding Hood" in 1956. Kubasta offered this pop-up book to the Prague-based ARTIA publishing house (a state-owned foreign trade corporation) for publication. During the years that followed, Kubasta's three-dimensional books made him the publishing house's best-known book designer and illustrator, w/35 million copies sold. Scattered cover wear w/small creases to Moko and Koko pieces, but VF overall w/VF-NM contents. See following items #1386-1388.
