Auction #214 - Part II
Item numbers 1008 through 2793 in auction 214
Item Description
2.25” with metal back and bar pin. Metal back has union bug stamp but there is no maker name. A very limited (and unusual) button issued for the 92nd graduating class from this Philadelphia area high school in June-1948. The character depicted seems much inspired by a photograph of Mae West and the paper print image of Mae comes along with the button. The most unusual aspect of the button is that there are two individual raised surface bumps representing her breasts. These bumps are beneath the celluloid, positioned exactly, and are not the result of any bumps made during assembly by the reverse bar pin. The only button we know of with this anatomical feature. Button is NM and displays Mint. Very limited issue.
