Auction #214 - Part II
Item numbers 1008 through 2793 in auction 214
Item Description
1.5” with near exact likeness of Alfred E. Neuman as depicted for MAD Magazine. Additional button text is “Superior/1941”, the meaning of which is unknown to us. Button has no back paper as issued and there is no maker’s name. Light tan oxidation over the metal back and collet has a very small dent although this does not affect the buttons visual appearance. Extreme right edge at 3 o’clock has three pinpoint rubs on the edge but barely seen without magnification. High gloss. Displays at least NM. One of only five examples we’ve seen in five decades.
