Item Description
3.5”. Good bit of silver luster off the metal back and along the bottom right edge, the celluloid has a split 1.75” long with a piece of the celluloid protruding slightly outward. On the back, the paper also has a pair of .25” splits but these lay relatively flat. The rest of the button remains clean and glossy. A 2004 biography of Zappa by Barry Miles relates the following event from November 1966: “LAFP (Los Angeles Free Press) Writer Eve Babitz Had Known Zappa Since She Was 17 And Happened To Be In New York When The Mothers Arrived. One Afternoon They Walked Down Madison Avenue Handing Out Badges Zappa Had Made Of Himself Seated At A Desk, Glaring Over The Top Of His Glasses With The Slogan: We Will Bury You!” Zappa was on his way to the King Cole bar at the St. Regis hotel to meet artist Salvador Dali. A scarce early Zappa button and we’ve seen only a couple.
