5.75x8-7/8" softcover book published 1870s to 1888 by Dick & Fitzgerald. Originally published in 1837 as "Histoire de M. Vieux Bois," it was published in English as "The Adventures Of Obadiah Oldbuck" written/illustrated by Swiss caricaturist Rodolphe Töpffer. Published first in Europe and then in the US as a newspaper supplement, "The Adventures Of Obadiah Oldbuck" is often referred to as the first comic book. This later printing is incomplete as it is missing back cover. Front cover is loose and shows heavy and obvious wear w/numerous creases/tears/corner pieces off. Pages have some moisture staining at bottom and scattered edge wear w/some corner pieces off. Just Poor, but all printings of this historic book are rare.
