Item Description
Both of these rare pieces are likely souvenirs of his exhibit at the Chicago World’s Fair. See previous item. First is a 6” long silvered brass chain link bracelet. Some silvering off the links. Suspended are five charms made of white metal. These include elephant, hippopotamus, monkey on a tree limb, and human figure wearing loin cloth probably meant to represent his ‘Number 1 Boy’ named Ali. Center charm is an octagonal black panel with inscription “Bring ‘Em Back Alive” followed by his facsimile signature “Frank Buck.” Next is 2-5/8” long metal replica of a snake. Extremely realistic and three dimensional in the sense that the front is covered in a scale pattern and the underside also has a ribbed design. The head is on a tiny spring and is moveable to the touch. Underside has a long bar pin and a small metal plate at the mid-point of the snakes body with tiny text “Bring ‘Em Back Alive” followed by facsimile “Frank Buck” signature. Piece has a small bit of paint loss mostly from the right side of the snake’s moveable head. A rather ingenious piece and we’ve never seen either one of these. Both are VF and rare.
