Item Description
First is 1.25” button from 1940 when his “League For Defense” was sponsored by Fleer’s Dubble Bubble Gum. 1.25” button designates the rank of “Group Leader.” Curl names maker Phila. Badge. With this comes a matching membership card 4” wide. Front has not been signed by the member. Reverse has text about recruiting additional members for the Fleer’s club and card lists seven radio stations carrying the program in locations scattered over the Eastern USA. Card is lightly tanned on both sides but otherwise undamaged. Next is 1.25” Mint luster brass token from a year earlier when the program was being sponsored by Kellogg’s. Front has his image and text “Don Winslow Honor Coin.” Reverse shows eagle with text “Take Me For Luck.” Token has a small bump to serve as spinner, a small edge hole to serve as a key fob and the front of the piece is designed as a ship’s wheel. NM luster. Last is a 1-1/8” tin container. Inside has dried out ink pad. Also included inside is a metal plate with small moveable handle and on the other side is a rubber stamp comprised of an anchor design and personalized by the initials of the person who ordered the premium. In this case the letters are “ED.” c. 1940 but we’re not sure of exactly which sponsor. Tin cover has oxidation on the outer surfaces and two tiny splits on the side edge of the lid. Stamp has a little tone on the metal plate but is overall in Fine condition. Underside of the tin also shows surface oxidation. This piece is just good but the other pieces are all NM to Mint.
