Item Description
Set of 144, each 2.5x3-1/8". Issued in 1939. Cards in this set feature a variety of different style fronts including both artwork and photos. Card #31 is a photo card w/title "Hitler Congratulates Von Ribbentrop." Card #128 has art w/title "Bomb Rocks Hitler Hall." The highlight of this set are cards #109-120. Known in the hobby as the "Dirty Dozen" these are among the rarest of all 1930s non-sport gum cards and rarely come up for sale individually, let alone all at once. It is thought that the cards from this group were never inserted into packs, and that they could only have been obtained by actually removing them from display box panels, hence the number that are deemed "Authentic" rather than receiving a grade. All 12 of these cards in this lot have been encapsulated by SGC and are as follows: 60 EX 5 card #'s 116 and 119 (high grade for these cards), 55 VG/EX+ 4.5 card #115, 40 VG 3 card #114, 10 Poor 1 – Card #'s 109-111, “A” Authentic card #'s 112, 113, 117, 118 and 120. The remaining 132 cards grade as follows: 35% EX, 55% VG/EX, 10% Good to VG. A classic card set w/the 12 key cards already encapsulated for your benefit.
