Item Description
17.75x24.5". Four page periodical folded horizontally with pages numbered "30-32" typical of publications of this vintage. This was the official weekly newspaper of the American Anti-Slavery Society and was published in New York. Edited by Lydia and David Child who published news, essays and anything pertinent to slavery at the time. Interior features a striking wood cut depiction of two females, one holding a flag bearing the papers motto "Without Concealment-Without Compromise". The second woman holds a book reading "The Truth Shall Set You Free". Light wear at fold line and minor age toning most notable at edges. Several small tears, worst of which is 1.25" on center fold at left edge. Ink inscription at left reading "Journal" and two small blue splotches of ink one of which affects the word "Standard" in the mast head. Fine.
