See previous item #1204. c. 1950s. Sign features unnamed blonde in ornate gown w/plunging neckline and sheer negligee gown. Blue color accents added to eyes. Back of sign has original label for sign maker The Stites Portrait Co. on Shelbyville, IN. Typed address indicated this was sent to manager of Park Theatre of Cleveland, OH. Inked note on label reads "Roxie," possibly indicating this was then sent to the noted Cleveland burlesque venue the Roxy Theater. Sign has noticeable wear at edges/corners w/corners rounded off. Small holes at corners/along margins as posted. Upper left corner is missing 1x2" piece and 10" of bottom shows heavy staining. Just Good overall, but still an impressive display piece due to its large size. Scarce.
