Item Description
Lot of six original 8x10" glossy publicity photos, four w/Shaw Artists Corporation and two w/General Artists Corporation management info at lower left or right corners. c. late 1950s-early 1960s, two have inkstamp date on reverse. Performers include - an early photo of Edwin Starr, known for his later hit "War"; Ocie Smith (July 1, 1957), who recorded "Little Green Apples" (which reached #2 in 1968); Bobby Hendricks, member of The Swallows who sang lead w/The Drifters; Barret Strong, the first artist to record a hit for Motown and wrote many lyrics for The Temptations; Nathaniel Mayer, who was known for his wild stage antics/energetic vocal style and Sammy Turner (March 7, 1960), a R&B singer popular in the late 1950s. Ocie Smith photo has "Bruno" photographer mark while Turner is marked "James. J. Kriegsman." Scattered lt. handling wear/aging. Turner has 1.5" crease at lower left corner. Fine. Rest are VF-Exc. overall.
