Item Description
10.5x12" die-cut cardboard display sign w/easel back designed to fit around a cereal box. Complete text includes "Free! A Comic Button In Every Package Of Pep! Get The Whole Set Of 18 - Save 'Em! - Trade 'Em!" ©1946. The "Whole Set Of 18" eventually became 86 (see item #2424). Sign features 10 button designs including - Dick Tracy, Little Orphan Annie, Perry Winkle, Superman, Harold Teen, Winnie Winkle, Nina, Kayo, Smokey Stover and Uncle Walt. Sign has some aging and 7/8" faint crease to die-cut edge of "Nina" button design, but sign is unused w/blank pricing area at lower left and Exc. overall. Very rare and wonderfully graphic, this is the only example we know of this sign. Originally obtained at the 1996 Christie's auction of Gold Archive items.
