Item Description
Sizes are 2-2.75” tall or long with one a little smaller. Each has a striker plate on the bottom or side edge. Group begins with one which has a flip up metal cover which reveals a small hole on the front that could be used to then slice the end of a small cigar. The front of this safe has a plate of mother of pearl. Minor silver oxidation loss. Next is a very nice quality silvered brass safe which has both vertical ribs and diagonal ripples. Well made and Exc. Next has a heart design on both front and back plus many other floral elements. This one is likely German silver. Next is a black metal safe with ten tiny raised domes of turquoise colored beads. Small bit of black finish mostly off the reverse. Next is leather wrapped with inscribed “Sarnia Can.” Next is a figural flask although this is missing the interior spring so there is no tension on the pop up lid. Next in a metallic copper color is covered in a pattern of branches, leaves and flowers. Light general wear. Next is slightly convex brass safe featuring a fierce dragon entwined around flowers while the reverse has a very stylized bird creature. Tiny tarnish dot above the dragon’s head. Next is brass safe with a shield on each side. Next is brass with image of U.S. Capitol and “Washington D.C.” on one side. Next is silvered brass with a reptilian scale pattern. Brass luster loss mostly from the edges. Next is silvered brass apparently representing a rope tied cotton bale. Noticeable silvering loss. Next is mailbox shaped with a hinged front lid. Next has high relief female portrait on one side and image of an elk on the opposite. Last is a hinged lid box with fancy floral engraving around the letters “G.R.” Edges are designed like a book with the striker on the hinged side. A very interesting group with most Fine to Exc. and any major issues as noted. 15 pieces with modest opening bid.
