Item Description
Smallest button is 7/8” and the largest item with ribbon is 6.5” with the others to scale. Group begins with red fabric fob holding aluminum medallion showing Jefferson on one side and Napoleon on the other. Text on front and back reads “Souvenir World’s Fair/St. Louis 1904.” Top hanger has a loop but not a pin. NM and the only example we’ve seen. Next with tabbed on brass frame is pin-back holding age toned and lightly worn ribbon but the celluloid remains NM and was issued for “Modern Woodmen Of America/St. Louis Sept. 8, 1904 World’s Fair.” First we’ve seen. Next has a pair of ribbons. A green one with moderate stains reads “Montana/The Treasure State/Portland 1905.” Overlaying this is a pink ribbon with Japanese characters and English text “Japan/World’s Fair Portland, Ore. 1905.” This ribbon has serious vertical shredding with a small clear tape repair at the bottom of the reverse. Both ribbons are held by a brass piece with “Souvenir” bar pin and suspension showing the logo of the Lewis & Clark Centennial Exposition. Next with a “California” ribbon is suspended from pin-back reading “Alameda County, California/Seattle A-Y-P, 1909.” 2” tear at bottom of ribbon with tape repair on back but the button is Mint. Next from same even has ribbon reading “King County Day A.Y.P.E. July 3rd, 1909.” Button has no text but shows a large strawberry. Exc. Next is brass hanger with cello insert reading “Good-Bye!” Ribbon reads “Closing Day Saturday Dec. 4, 1915” and this is held by the collet of the beautifully colored button showing fashionably dressed young woman waving a white hanky in good-bye gesture over an aerial scene of buildings at the “Panama Pacific International Exposition.” This piece also served as the admission for the day. Some light ripples on the ribbon but an extremely clean example. The 7/8” button is for the “A.Y.P. Expo/Seattle 1909.” This has W&H back paper. Last piece is solid brass with loop at top, partly bent out of shape, and showing building with steps in foreground. Text reads “Saint Louis 1904.” Many rare items.
