Auction #215 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 987 in auction 215
Item Description
2-1/8” with 100% silvering. While this piece displays beautifully on the extreme right side when assembled somehow the metal collet sliced off the far right edge of the celluloid but then also it seems to have trapped that piece upside down. The end result is that a 1/16” deep by 5/8” long vertical segment on the far right is without celluloid covering and shows as off white paper although blending quite well with the artwork showing an archway. Scene depicts one Chinese woman holding a basket above her head and dumping what seems to be flowers into a tray held by the second woman at the right. One of the very earliest pieces ever made in celluloid to promote the Nation of China. Only example we’ve seen.
