This ring was a premium from National Chicle Gum and was advertised on the company’s Tom Mix Gum wrapper available for 75 coupons to be cut-out and sent to the company. Underside of the ring is inscribed “14 K White Gold Finish.” This gold finish wore off very rapidly and most examples have some degree of loss. This piece retains about 98% of the white gold finish. The only loss is found in the form of a few near microscopic dots on the outer surface of the lower prong. In addition the brass finish on the shield and star remains incredibly reflective. The only flaw on the ring is in the slogan “Tom Mix Deputy.” The word “Mix” is lightly struck so that while the individual letter shapes are there they are not distinct. This same light strike occurred on some of the other examples that we’ve seen. Most importantly we’ve never seen a better example in terms of the completeness and the highly reflective quality of both the brass and white gold finishes. NM.
