Auction #215 - Part II
Item numbers 988 through 2613 in auction 215
Item Description
This group begins with two first seen items. One is a 7/8” pin-back button with eagle and shield design and text “1930/1931/Los Angeles Times Playground Aircraft League.” Next is exceptionally large and extremely well detailed wings badge 3-5/8” wide with center shield reading “Los Angeles Times Aviation School For Boys 1928-1929.” Very well made and with NM luster. Both pieces obviously part of the aviation inspired boy’s club following Lindbergh’s epic Trans-Atlantic flight. Other items are about 1.25” to 1.75” with first being brass badge reading “Devil Dogs.” This was a premium advertised in Sunday newspapers to promote the James Cagney and Pat O’Brien title Devil Dogs Of The Air released in 1935. Next are four identical member badges in brass and black enamel paint for the California based radio program Phantom Pilot Patrol sponsored by Langendorf Bakeries. Last is Jimmie Allen wings from Richfield. Exc. to NM luster on all.
