Artboard features Harrison Cady's original India ink w/inkwash art for May 1918 "St. Nicholas" magazine story entitled "Peter Rabbit's May Party." Art shows Reddy Fox in tears as he runs about in pain from the porcupine needles in his paw. These have come from Prickly Porky, who can be seen by pile of sticks. Peter Rabbit, Spotty the Turtle and Danny Meadow Mouse watch from the upper right. Cady's signature appears at lower left and bottom margin has handwritten title at left and line of text describing art. All text has been penciled in Cady's hand. Upper left corner has 2x2.5" corner off and lower right has .5x1" corner off. Margins show moderate dust soiling and some handling wear w/small nicks along bottom. Artboard has been mounted on conservation paper backing and is ready for display w/frame. VG overall, but main image area remains clean and displays Exc. as matted.
