Item Description
14x36" poster for 1932 Universal Western starring Tom Mix. Due to his losses in the stock market crash of 1929, his many wives and his free-spending ways, Mix had wiped out most of his savings by the time Universal Pictures approached him in 1932 w/an offer to do talkies which included script/cast approval. Universal managed to lure him out of retirement, where he made nine pictures for them. This stock poster was used to advertise these films, w/film-specific text or printed advertising attached at area marked "In His Latest Picture" at lower left. This has has two paste-overs added; one for Amherst, MA. Empress theater and one featuring photo image of Mix and female co-star in "Hidden Gold." Three horizontal folds as issued, poster has been mounted to thick cardboard (w/taped margins) at corners and could be removed if so desired. Poster shows scattered wear, w/.5" tears/chips at left/right top fold and corner creasing. 1.5" tear across middle fold. Still displays VG overall.
