Issued in 1966 and © NPP Inc. Cards in this set feature bw photo fronts with images from the 1950s TV show that starred George Reeves. Text and puzzle backs. Two slightly different boxes were produced (see item #2466) and this one is the rarer of the two. 4x8 by just 1" deep 24 count 5 cent box. Lid and front panel have image of Reeves as Superman but not an image of him as Clark Kent as does the other variety (which is also deeper at 1.75"). Otherwise box design is the same including an ad for the TV show on back panel. Box contains near full amount, 21 wax packs (w/o gum as issued) each 2.5x3.5". Wrapper designs are the same w/image of Superman but half have lt. flesh tone features while half are noticeably darker but as printed. A few packs have minor edge tear/split, one has .5" spot of surface paper loss on back but all remain sealed as issued. EX to NM. Box has one corner split and some minor color rubs but lid has never been separated only perforations. VF. Franco Toscanini Collection.
