27.25x41.25" stock one-sheet poster for Warner Bros. cartoons. Mid-1940s. Unlike most cartoon studios of the day, Warner Bros. rarely issued individual one-sheets for their shorts, opting instead for colorful stock posters like that offered here, which could easily have different information/images posted to it. Poster features early designs for both Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd as well as Sniffles the Mouse, Cecil the Turtle, Goopy Geer and others. This poster art was updated a few years later, depicting the characters more accurately and adding characters like Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and others. Reverse of poster has "Merrie Melodies - Warner First Nat'l - 1SH - 1944-1945" inkstamp, indicating these posters were used for some time. This poster has hand-lettered "Trap Happy Porky" (1945) title in red/blue colored pencil that was customized by theater workers rather than adding a paste-on. Poster is folded as issued and shows moderate margin wear w/1.5x1.5" piece missing off lower left corner, pin holes at corners and along margins and scattered margin tears. There are also pin holes around area where cartoon titles were meant to go. Tape reinforcements added to back at fold creases intersections. VG overall and scarcer than later, updated posters.
