Item Description
Large and impressive 41x78.5" three-sheet poster features Col. Tim McCoy on horseback, a rifle cradled in his arm as he oversees covered wagon train from rocky outcrop. He holds his hand up, waving to pair of Native Americans on horseback in distant bkg. Bottom left has "'Sign Of Friends'" text. Printed by Tooker-Moore Litho Co. c. 1938. Wonderful attention to detail, McCoy's horse's flank even has faint brand visible and Native American chief's breast collar plate is visible. Circle at upper right reads "The Winning Of The West." Poster was printed in two pieces as was typical, bottom portion lines up much nicer than typically seen w/posters of this size. Folded as issued, w/tape repairs/reinforcements added at fold crease intersections on back. Center left margin has .25" piece out and 7/8x1.25" margin piece reattached w/tape on reverse. Tape repair to 5" tear at bottom left. Bottom corners have pin holes and top margin has had three cardboard-mounted brass grommets added for display purposes. Most issues are confined to margins and if framed, poster would display VF. Rare. Fred Hoffman Collection.
