Item Description
4-7/8x5.5x5" tall has nice art on each side with 4 different sequencial scenes. c. 1910. Scenes show Baby Snookums crawling under bookcase looking for candy as parents watch. Mr. Newlywed starts taking books out of bookcase as Mother tries to get baby out from under case as he says "Wow Wow." Third scene has Mr. Newlywed lifting up empty bookcase revealing chocolate-covered baby saying "Wow!" as Mrs. Newlywed kneels on floor reaching for baby surrounded by books. Sequence ends with each family member enjoying chocolates with Mrs. Newlywed saying "I Am Sure He Knew They Were Blanke-Wenneker Chocolates" as Mr. Newlywed says "He Is A Perfect Sherlock!" Top has company name and trademark design on lid which opens to reveal repeat image of last outside scene without word balloons showing family eating chocolate with art in black on brass accent bkg. Made by F.S. Towle Co. NY., Germany. Sides have scattered light wear. Some missing paint on all sides. Top of lid is hinged and has some oxidation and gold accent color worn. Paint is 90% complete. Great designs and color. Fine appearance. Art is unsigned but resembles cartoonist creator George McManus style. Illustrations remain bright. Fine. From the Gary Selmonsky collection.
