Item Description
Original illustrated cardboard box contains 23.75" long (26" long to ends of ladders) pressed steel and painted die-cast metal firetruck w/aluminum running boards and extending aerial ladders. Miller-Ironson Corp. #537. 1950s. Box features "MIC" company initials and shows illustration of enclosed fire truck on both long side panels. Box is complete w/original cardboard inserts and has printed recipient name/address in shipping info box on top flaps. Penciling on top flaps. One flap has 3.5" tear and 9" edge split, almost separating piece from box. VG. Fire truck's die-cast parts include headlights/spotlight, radiator, steering wheel and door handles. Opening doors are marked "Smith Miller - Smitty Toys - California - Famous Trucks In Miniature" on both sides. Hood has repeated "12" number and "L.A.F.D." designation appears above running boards on sides. Features include steerable front wheels, opening doors w/latches, swiveling ladder mount w/extending ladders. Original strings used for extending ladders slip a bit and ladders need to be raised manually. Steering wheel, plated ladder support and side rails have aging. Toy is o/w unused and VF/Exc. Nice large firetruck.
